Getting ready to go...back to Ethiopia

We have begun to really prepare for our mission trip back to Ethiopia to help work on completing the new orphanage at Acacia Village. (www.acaciavillage.org) We will be a team of 12 that we put together from friends in different countries. We will be 9 from home and 1 friend from Portugal and 2 friends from Italy including an Italian doctor (who is in Haiti right now). We each have specific tasks we are going to work on when we get there. I will be on the painting team along with Christine who is flying in from her semester in Paris to work over her spring break. Jeff and the guys will be put to work on whatever needs to be completed when we arrive. We will also be traveling south to Awassa to visit Tess's home town. We did not get there when we went the first time. It is about a 4 hour rough ride from Addis Ababa...let the fundraising and supply gathering begin!!

Awassa is beautiful...especially the lake. If you get the chance, there is a wonderful ministry we are assisting not too far from Awassa in a very remote village outside Soto. It is run by a devoted Christian (Desalyn Daka) who is a 29-year old civil engineer from the village who is doing everything in his power to care for the orphans in his village. He currently has 24 in his program and one widow. I would love for you to see what he is doing as we're trying to help him build awareness and support for his ministry. We can put you in contact with Desalyn if you have any interest.

We are so jealous and wish so much we could join you. Our hearts are still in Ethiopia.

We will try and post some of our pictures from Awassa on our blog in the next few days. We also had an incredible guide/driver if you're interested.

Have an incredible trip!!!
